Five Star Grout is the industry’s leading cement-based, nonmetallic, non-shrink grout designed to provide reliable precision support for machinery, equipment, and structural elements. Engineered with Air Release technology that combines high performance with the greatest reliability, this grout delivers consistent results across demanding industrial applications. When tested in accordance with ASTM C 827, Five Star Grout exhibits positive expansion and meets the performance requirements of ASTM C 1107-02 Grades A, B and C, ASTM C 1107-07, and CRD-C 621-93 specifications for non-shrink grout over a wide temperature range from 40°F to 90°F (4°C to 32°C).
This high-performance grout achieves 95% Effective Bearing Area (EBA) following proper grouting procedures and offers exceptional placement versatility with pour, pump, or dry pack methods. With a 45-minute working time at 70°F and compressive strengths reaching 8,000 psi at 28 days for dry pack applications, Five Star Grout provides permanent support for machinery requiring precision alignment. Its non-shrink properties from the time of placement ensure dimensional stability and long-term performance, while the absence of gas-generating additives like aluminum powder guarantees consistent results without unwanted expansion or voids.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the recommended mixing procedure for Five Star Grout? Mix thoroughly for 4-5 minutes to uniform consistency using a mortar mixer (stationary barrel with moving blades). A drill and paddle mixer is acceptable for single bag mixes. Always add mixing water first to the mixer, followed by grout. Use 7-11 quarts of potable water per 100 lb bag (3.5-5.5 quarts per 50 lb bag).
What is the minimum placement thickness?
The minimum placement thickness for Five Star Grout is 1 inch (25 mm) for all placement methods.
How long before equipment can be placed into service?
In-service operation may begin immediately after the required grout strength has been reached, typically within 1-3 days depending on conditions and placement method. The grout must be wet cured for a minimum of three days.
Can Five Star Grout be extended with aggregate?
Yes. For pours over 6 inches (150 mm) in depth, Five Star Grout should be extended with clean, damp coarse aggregate meeting ASTM C 33 requirements. Refer to Five Star Products’ Technical Bulletin “Cement Grout Aggregate Extension” for guidelines.
What surface preparation is required?
All surfaces must be free of oil, grease, laitance, and other bond-inhibiting contaminants. Concrete should be mechanically roughened to coarse aggregate exposure with a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) of 6-9 per ICRI Technical Guideline 310.2R. Presoak concrete surfaces for 8-24 hours continuously via wet rags, burlap, or ponding.
What is the shelf life of Five Star Grout?
One year in original unopened packaging when stored in dry conditions. High relative humidity will reduce shelf life.
