Sikament-100 SC is a precision-engineered bipolymer anti-washout admixture designed to revolutionize underwater concrete and grout placement in both fresh and saltwater environments. This unique formulation meets CRD-C661-06 requirements and delivers exceptional cohesiveness through its variable viscosity technology. When mechanically agitated or sheared during pumping operations, the concrete becomes fluid and highly flowable, enabling easy placement through confined spaces and complex geometries without costly dewatering procedures.
The admixture’s innovative bipolymer chemistry transforms concrete behavior by creating a dense, high-viscosity consistency when at rest, while maintaining excellent pumpability during placement. This dual-action characteristic ensures superior underwater “stacking” performance during tremie operations and dramatically improves concrete’s ability to penetrate and consolidate foundation rock layers in challenging marine construction projects. At a dosage rate of approximately 0.5 gallons per cubic yard, Sikament-100 SC doubles the active slump life without extending setting times, making it an essential solution for contractors facing underwater construction challenges.

Key Features of Sikament-100 SC
Variable Viscosity Technology
Becomes fluid when sheared or agitated during pumping, then reverts to high-viscosity state at rest for superior underwater placement control.
Eliminates Dewatering Costs
Allows direct concrete placement into water-covered areas by pump or tremie, reducing or eliminating expensive dewatering operations.
Enhanced Matrix Integrity
Maintains concrete cohesiveness during high slump placements and significantly reduces washout from surfaces during curing.
Superior Flow Characteristics
Concrete flows readily into available spaces while preventing segregation and dilution for increased in-place strength.
Extended Workability
Doubles the active slump life of concrete without causing delays in setting time, improving construction efficiency.
Reduced Laitance Formation
Minimizes or eliminates cement paste washout during curing, resulting in superior surface quality and bond strength.
Recommended Applications for Sikament-100 SC
Sikament-100 SC is engineered for marine contractors and engineers who need reliable underwater concrete placement without the complexity and cost of dewatering operations. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the recommended dosage rate for Sikament-100 SC?
The standard dosage is approximately 0.5 gallons per cubic yard (10 fl.oz. per 100 cwt.) based on 660 lbs. of cement with a 0.40 water-cement ratio. Dosage must be proportionately increased when water content increases.
How should Sikament-100 SC be added to the concrete mix?
Add the admixture to fresh concrete after all other mix ingredients have been thoroughly blended together. Adding too early in the mixing process may cause clumping of materials.
What mixing equipment works best with this admixture?
Turbine mixers and central mix plants typically perform better than dry batched transit mixers. The concrete mixer must be capable of thoroughly shearing materials and blending all components for optimal results.
What are the storage requirements?
Store above 40°F (5°C). If frozen, thaw completely and agitate thoroughly before use. Shelf life is one year when stored in dry warehouse conditions between 50-80°F (10-27°C).
Can higher dosages be used for enhanced performance?
Higher dosages may delay the initial concrete set. Additional high range water reducing admixtures may be required to obtain desired workability. Consult your local Sika representative for guidance.
What happens if insufficient quantities are used?
Using less than recommended quantities or insufficient mixing may result in concrete that is more likely to bleed or separate during underwater placement.
